One of my most cherished places on Kauaʻi is along the south shore. One evening, I was out for a little surf session at Waiohai when I noticed the sun beginning to sink toward the horizon.
The clouds were high, soft, and wispy, and something told me the sunset might be special. Without hesitation, I paddled in and made my way to shore, not wanting to miss it.
As the sun dipped lower, the sky slowly caught fire. Fiery oranges spilled across the horizon, reflecting over the calm ocean and the algae-covered rocks along Poʻipū Beach.
I stood there taking it all in, grateful that I had listened to that little feeling that told me to get out of the water.
These are the moments that remind me how lucky I am to call Kauaʻi home.
