This photograph was inspired by the feeling of old Hawaiʻi—the quiet, timeless beauty captured in vintage photographs from another era.
I chose to process the image in black and white, allowing the sea foam to become the heart of the photograph. Against the darker ocean and sky, the white foam almost seems to glow, creating a sense of stillness and calm despite the power of the waves.
In the distance, the sea cliffs rise against the gray-black sky, while layers of textured clouds move overhead. The contrast between the rugged cliffs, heavy sky, and soft white foam gives the image a feeling that is both peaceful and powerful.
There is something about black and white photography that strips away the distractions and lets you simply feel the moment.
For me, this photograph carries a little piece of old Hawaiʻi—a quiet, moody beauty that feels timeless.
